Budget Under £500

Job I have a short circuit at home that is affecting the whole of the ground floor power sockets but not the lights. This problem is intermittent, some times is fine for 2 days others for just 2 hours. I would like an electrician to come and test the wiring and hopefully help me find the source of the problem and/or suggest other alternatives.

Job Repair wire to, and replace, a shaver socket (accidentally drilled through existing wire!) in bathroom. Also remove electric heater from wall in the bathroom and make good.

The electrical testers quoted over £1000 for the additional work, Colvin's quote was less than half! The job was completed in 3.5hrs and he certified the work also! Comment Electrics are a tricky affair, and I wanted someone who knew what they were doing without all the jargon thrown at me. With all the regulations around at the moment I was not going to leave anything to chance. The contractor looked over the periodic report I had from a previous electrician, and noticed some of the work was not necessary. I think he may have stopped me being ripped off, which is always a possibility when you are not experienced in this area. I have peace of mind and my electrics are now safe. Excellent – I highly recommend this electrical contractor. Maria
