"I am impressed how quickly there are responses to a request, and mtd were certainly very prompt to reply.I wasn't actually here when the job was done but my sons felt mtd did a very good job, even though the guy said it wasn't really his thing doing boilers, so there was probably a misunderstanding in my original request as I thought it was an electricians job, but it turned out the boiler had blown something which in turn blew all the electrics in the kitchen. The job turned out more expensive than I expected to pay, but we needed it done that day and I appreciated the effort mtd went to to solve the problem. I worried that if it wasn't the kind of job they usually do, that it might have taken him extra time to do and therefore extra time and charges, as I believe he went to a lot of trouble to get the part. I like to think this wouldn't have happened and he would have been honest with me about the situation. I wasn't really in a position to query anything. I do find that the two times I have used Rated People the people who phone up are very keen to come and do the job there and then and it makes it tempting to have it done without a quote. I thought the idea was to come and give quotes, but they come ready to do the work and its difficult to refuse especially if they seem to have travelled some distance to do the work. I have resolved next time to stand firm and get quotes before agreeing to the work. This is not a criticism of mtd who did a very good job very quickly and fortunately I will never know if it would have been cheaper to get a boiler specialist in. I do appreciate the effort he went to."
