I want to get a small sized property re-wired with new consumer unit, move the meter (I will arrange this with power company). The property is almost completely empty and floor boards, loft insulation etc will be lifted away already. I am quite technically competent and to reduce costs as much as possible would like to take some initial guidance on regulations from someone whilst quoting so that I can run cables in advance, chase in plaster, fit and connect sockets, light switches and fittings ready for the electrician to essentially come in and test/sign off the work over a couple of visits. More technical/might get electrocuted elements like actually wiring up the fuseboard and consumer unit and connecting to the mains or requiring more intricate skills left to the electrician. There is also an existing alarm and if possible would like to re-wire this and again chase in the cabling as a lot is currently exposed. Essentially this should be your dream job. Very little getting your hands dirty and mainly just connecting up some testing gear and making sure I am not too dumb to connect a socket correctly which I would like to imagine isn't going to be a problem, but then you may have other ideas! There will also possibly some exterior lighting to throw into the bag a few months down the line and would like to make this future proofed by pre-installing some elements so we can do this at a later date without too much messing about internally (fit an external junction box perhaps?). Thanks
