Lay 40 sq meters of paving To lay sub base and lay patio using 25 sq mtrs sandstone, 15 sq mtrs stock brick laid on edge New installation
Patrick is friendly and a pleasure to work with. He only took on laying the turf and supplied labour, top soil and a top quality turf at a very good price. When he arrived with the turf, there was around 3 meters less than required and he made a long journey to get matching turf. It has all bedded down nicely and I am extremely pleased with the result

Two bedroom floors, roughly 3 by 3 metres each (at a guess): 1 has original unfinished floorboards with several nails etc - may need some minor repairs and gaps which need filling 2 has already been sanded, filled and stained/ varnishd before but badly and needs redoing, including existing filling may need to be removed and replaced If possible, we would like the work done within the next 2-3 weeks
Mark was prompt, gave helpful advice, did a good job and remained cheerful despite encountering a few unexpected difficulties! I would certainly hire him again.

I'm not sure
I am looking to have my old patio removed and a new one put in it's place. Is for the back garden of my terraced house. The current height of the patio is too high in relation to the damp course so are looking to have the old one and whatever is underneath that removed, and the ground then prepared accordingly and a new patio to be laid at the correct level. The top surface is currently covered by around 90+ pavers (each 450mm x 450mm) - I think this is around 20m sq. The shape is a back to front "L" shape which runs down the side of the house and opens out into the garden. On top of this patio work, I would also like the garden path to be done at the same time (with same material) which would be a further 4 or so square metres. On price of pavers, I'm not looking for the very cheap slabs. We quite like the Yorkstone look with random design (with different sized slabs) but can discuss the specifics with the companies providing quotes for the job. It is likely that all materials required will need to go through the house to the back garden. All the old pavers, rubble and all other respective waste in relation to this job are to be removed by the company allocated the work. I am looking for 3 written quotes for this work (preferably itemised). It would be good if quoting companies could also provide examples of previous work they'd done.
Apologies for the late late feedback on this job - have just been lazy if I'm honest. Am very pleased with our new patio and Kevin's hard work which has totally transformed our garden since late summer '09. Also pleasing was the fact that he turned up when he said he would and on the one morning he got stuck in a traffic jam he rang and let me know. He was a nice bloke, who just got on with the work whilst he was here. I got three quotes for this work and Kevin's was the middle quote. Surprisingly, all three suggested different ways to do the work! Kevin's way was what I'd have done myself - having researched what was required, so i was more than happy to go with that. He was also the only one to offer examples of his work and a couple of references. I think he may have underestimated on the amount of time the job would take and did run over by a couple of days - but as I also gave him a couple of extra jobs to do (which we agreed an additional price for) I've got no complaints as the price remained the same for me. Overall am more than satisfied with Kevin's work, and wouldn't hesitate to use him again. many thanks.

We are looking to remove an old carpet from our stairs and landing, then have the floorboards finished so they match the wood floors in the rest of the house. On taking up part of the carpet ourselves we have found some old (1930s?) Lino underneath, stuck down with black glue. We need advice on its removal as we've read this could be an asbestos risk, and we are looking for a quote to finish off the job. House is in Walthamstow, E17 and is a 30s semi. Condition of floorboards - apart from the black glue - looks good so we do not want to replace them altogether. We are also not interested in a laminated covering etc. Thanks in advance.

We have 30sqm of engineered Jatoba wood to lay in our living room on a concrete base. The room gets very cold so the insulation beneath must be suitable to keep the heat in. There is also some wood around the skirting to stain to match the colour of the Jatoba. Budget will depend on the quotes we receive.
