Barry was punctual, honest and reasonable. He's done a great job. When things didn't go exactly as we'd both expected he was again honest and flexible, providing me with al the options. He dropped round to see me at a separate address with samples which was a really nice touch. The fact that Barry could offer a quote on the spot at the first visit clinched it for me. The surface is bare wood floors with no grippers though it is nailed down, surplus nails removed and ready for laying. We can supply own carpet via internet or are willing to do a supply & fit deal if cheaper depending on overall cost for total job. We have measured up accurately and can supply accurate floor plans. We want plain non patterned carpet so there should be little wastage as no room dimension is wider than 3.8 metres so possible to cut all from 4 m roll. When we went to carpet shop the wastage quoted for for 60% over which we think was OTT and we think a skilled fitter could do it for a lot less. You would need to confirm cutting plan and quote for the fitting.
Martin from Modern Floors was very easy to deal with, easy to contact, responded to my queries promptly and was friendly and helpful and did a very competent job. Whether you are a landlord or a private household I would certainly recommend that you ask him to quote for you. He gave me a fair competitive quote, for supplying and fitting underlay and carpet which beat a local shop (which didn't measure up properly so their cutting plan was OTT), Carpetright (which measured up properly but charge more than you can get yourself over the net and when you add their fitting charge this makes them uncompetitive) and another quote which was similar to his but Martin could get me a better quality carpet, matching and bettering what I could get over the internet so when you added the costs of a fitter it saved me money and hassle and a lot of time. He did a very nice job and cleared up afterwards so a complete transformation of the house in a couple of hours flat.

Romms include hall stairs and landing as well as living/dining room, 45 mtr sq roughly. I have the flooring in mind (i have sample) and ready to buy but will accept an offer for supply as well from fitter. Looking for honest, clean, friendly work person how can guarentee a first class job.
We found Paul & Lawrance to be very friendly, easy to have in my home and helpful in the decision making. Not wanting to sell me the most expensive solution but the one that would look best. They completed a wooden floor totalling around 40 sq mtr and fitted my stairs in the same wood also which looks great. 2 days work in total and a final 10 minute revisit for finishing touches which they came back to do after I have already paid. Trustworthy guy's, I would use again. Thanks, Gary & Cassie
