"Colin (& son) recently fitted a Ferroli Combi boiler to replace 2 existing boilers in our kitchen. Unfortunately this wasn’t without its’ problems. The job took the 2 days which was quoted, however after Colin left on the first day we noticed that water was leaking into the kitchen from one of the pipes which had been extended in the upstairs bedroom. Luckily we were able to cap this off to prevent it causing any damage. However, shortly after this we left the house for a couple of hours and when we returned, we noticed there was a leak from another pipe in the bedroom. The water had leaked down the wall at the back of the site of the new boiler and into the kitchen. Again we had to cap the pipe off and clean up the water which had been constantly dripping for 2 hours. We contacted Colin to advise him about the leaks and were told that this should not have happened as the pipe was connected to the hot water feed which had been shut off – but unfortunately it did happen. At 7pm the following day, the installation was complete, however within 24 hours the hot water stopped working. We called Colin who turned up 4 hours later and eventually managed to get the hot water working again. He also reported the fault to Ferroli, as the boiler wasn’t functioning properly, and to arrange for one of their engineers to look at the problem. Ferroli could only send an engineer round in 7 days time, so we had to hope that the hot water didn’t fail in the meantime – luckily it didn’t. The engineer diagnosed the problem as a faulty valve, however he didn’t have a replacement with him! We are still waiting for Ferolli to contact us to arrange for a new valve to be fitted (some 2 weeks after the boiler was installed) – fortunately the boiler is working properly at the moment. All in all, although this maybe a rare occurrence with Colin’s work, and part of the problem lies with the boiler manufacturer, when you pay almost £1,700 to have a boiler fitted, you expect this to be carried out without any problems. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case with our installation. "
