Superb friendly giant... I can not fault Mercia from their comms to the workmanship and after sales. By far the best service, support and work i have received from a plumber. Ditto all the positive from other reviewers. Recommended and will definitely use again.

I live in 4 bedroom bungalow. The boiler is in the hall on the wall next to the shower in the bathroom. According to British gas the current boiler and emersion heater will need removing. A flue will need to be put through the attic. The shower may need replacing with an electric one. 6 of my nine radiators will need to be converted to have in and out pipes at either end rather than one in order to power flush. The guy estimated between 4,000 and 5,000.
Very professional job at a very reasonable price.

I'm not sure
We have a gas fire that we no longer use. We'd like to have it safely disconnected and the gas pipework removed so that we can have more space in our living room. CORGI registered only.
Samgas replied promptly and did a good professional job. I would definitely use them again.

We have a wood-burning stove in the oldest part of our property, and that keeps two thirds of our cottage warm. We also have an immersion heater for hot water. We currently have no boiler, but would like to have a boiler installed and a few radiators installed to cover the extension, which was built around 1980, and which gets very cold. So we would probably need a radiator in the bathroom (currently have a towel warmer only), possibly a radiator in the one bedroom in the extension (although it currently has a Baxi balanced flue gas heater), one or two radiators in the living room (no heating, but we are likely to have a flueless gas stove to complement the radiators - we've relied on an antiquated gas fire in the past). We probably ought to have one radiator in the porch, which is freezing in winter, but given that we will be installing a downstairs cloakroom in the porch, we would like to heat this. Given that the main part of our house is very old, we would like any radiators to look the part, i.e. like period-style ones even if they aren't old! I hope this is enough information for the time being. We would obviously like to have an efficient boiler installed, but are not sure about which make to choose. I've read about Baxi not being great, but Worcester or Vaillant being fine; I've also read that Keston boilers make for an easier and cheaper installation because it can use PVCu pipework, but don't know durable this would be. We have always done our own work in the renovation of the cottage, and my husband has experience of plumbing, but we obviously need to have a Gas Safe experience person to do this work, and someone we can trust. A number of years ago we called out a local firm to fix our gas fire in the living room. We knew what the problem was (faulty thermocoupling), but couldn't source the part ourselves. Two people arrived. The thermocoupling wasn't the right size, so my husband had to use HIS OWN TOOLS to make it fit, and then they just connected it. We were charged £89.00 for the privilege. The next time the thermocoupling died, we managed to source the part ourselves and it cost under £5.00, and we fixed it ourselves.
