Reviews of Metalworkers in London

Hackney Central, E8

Under £2,000
The wall outside my house on Greenwood Road in Hackney collapsed a few years ago. I would like to install railings and a gate. How much would that cost? The length involved is about 6 metres.
Prompt, reliable service and good value. Would definitely go with them again.

First time I've used to rated people and glad that I did. Formosa Welding were extremely efficient, reasonable and an understanding of our design brief. We had been let down badly by another metalworker based in Oxford and Formosa were quick to catch up.

To replace wrought iron railings (approximately 3m) located at the front of a property near Clapham Junction. Currently about half of the existing railings are missing - the cross metal strips are all in place. Would be interested in a quote for (a) simply replacing the missing railings or replacing all the railing to keep the design similar as it is, and (b) to replace the existing railings with a brickwork walled base with metal railings for the top half. Thanks
Very pleased with the work by Rhino Steelwork. Jay was very responsive, providing a quote quickly, responding to e-mails and texts promptly and being able to fit in with my schedule. Very competitive prices as well, with a high standard of workmanship.

I have a metal handrail that runs alongside some stairs in a side passage outside my house. The rail is attached to the wall via 4 brackets but has become detached from 3 of them. The handrail needs to be rewelded to its brackets. If this cannot be done, a new handrail needs to be manufactured and fitted to the wall. Budget can be expanded if a new handrail is required.
Bob got in touch approx 5 mins after I posted the job. Turned up on time a couple of days later, did the job on the spot for £60, which was reasonable value. Overall I'm very pleased with the outcome.

One standard siz gate to match existing railings (as far as possible). One taller, custom-made to fit in front of an existing door.
I would give Elite Pond Covers a 5 star rating. The job was carried out in a professional manner, at a reasonable cost and I was delighted with the finished product. It was really easy to contact Shaun McPherson whenever I had any queries and he was always available to answer any questions. I would not hesitate to recommend this company and would certainly use them again.

Provide and fix metal balustrade to two sides of balcony over rear flat roof. Long run approx 3.6m (no parapet), 1100 height balustrade with existing wall to one end. Short side return approx 2.4m (existing 200 height parapet) so 900 height balustrade with existing wall to one end. Galvanized or galvafroid finish.
Pleasant to work with. The balustrade was not by any means standard and the situation gave some problems but they came up with a good interpretation of my requirements. A good looking end result. Quick to manufacture and no fuss installation. I would have no problem using them again.

In need of a balustrade for roofdeck, roughly 6.5 meters, 2 corners uncomplicated geometric design, ideally powder coated and fitted.
They did an excellent job on our roof deck. They came on time, measured, delivered and installed without any hickups. Great communications, stress free and highly recommended.

existing balcony railings need new metal pieces to support glass panels. original metal corroded and rusted through.
Kyle from KMS Projects is excellent. He quoted fast and carried out the job within my deadline. Not only he did an excellent job, he even improved some of the work on my balcony which was not in my job description! I rate him 10 out of 10 and surely will not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who needs this kind of work. Thank you, Ratedpeople, for finding Kyle for me.

We would like to replace our wooden front gate (separating our front courtyard with the pavement) with a metal gate as our wooden gate is rotten/not watertight and in the rain expands making it unable to close and lock properly.

Updated : Garden gate/door 6ft high and regular door width. Positioned to the side of the house and attached via a metal frame on one side to house brick wall and on the other to the garage. There was approx 1 cm gap between the door and the metal frame which has sagged on one side and won't open. The metal fixing to the brick wall has also loosened. The latter may be the only problem, in that fixing this may remedy the sagging gate, OR there there may be both issues that need fixing? Original : My 6ft side security gate (sheet not wrought iron) won't open ! The gate has moved within its frame, and the frame has moved away from the brick wall to which it is fixed. Problem is probably a combination of the above and is likely to need a bit of welding and refixing.

We have a set of metal steps at the rear of our property that are in need of repair. Three steps have had concrete treads put on and a fourth step has no such tread but a hole in it. Each of the four steps I think needs a new metal rivet plate. There is also an exposed drainage hole that could do with something to stop people from falling in - perhaps some metalwork here too?
