They need to be about 15 cm higher than they are currently to be compliant - and need to be checked re: how secure they currently are. Would be great to use the existing railing somehow rather than starting from scratch.

Updated : We have men on site so that you can measure up to provide the estimate. Original : We have a low wallled balcony on the 2nd floor of a Georgian building in SW8. It needs to have a very simple guard rail made and installed asap. I have a photograph if it helps.

To make and fit a simple metal handrail, finished in black paint, to run up exterior stairs to front door of a flat. Imagine it would be vertically chemical-set/sunk into exisiting brick and rendered ballustrade at two points and perhaps, at the top, horizontally set into a vertical rendered column. Aprrox 2.5 m handrail in length.
We were really pleased we found Vinny through RatedPeople. We had been looking for a local metlaworker who could do a reliable and affordable job. Vinny was really personable from the start. He came round when he said he was going to, quoted for the job on the spot and it was the most competetive quote. He was also able to turn it round incredibly quickly - within a day or two - where other quotes needed weeks. And he only asked for payment on completion. He worked with a colleague who was also very friendly. They were both polite and hard working. He came back when asked to, to touch up some paintwork and use a grinder to neaten up the places where they had used chemical cement to set the hand rail into stone work, so that it was ready for re-decoration. The hand rail he made is sturdy and is a close match to the other metal work around. Would use Vinny again.

I have a length of steel support which needs welding under the stairs to strengthen them. However a visit needed for advice as impossible to explain.
Work started on time and carried out very professionally. A supporting leg for my garden stair case was well designed and solved my problems for a very reasonable price. Garden items in the way were removed and replaced tidier than before. All delivered with courtesy and a smile. I thoroughly recommend Richard and R M Fabrications.

I had wanted a simple balustrade for an external staircase. Dave was very professional and came with some examples of his work and ideas. He was able to do the work quite quickly, and it looks really good. I am very pleased with his professional manner and the quality of his work. I chose him over another metalworker referred to me by my builder. He charged a very reasonable price. I would definitely recommend him.

The original pedestrian gate to the front of house was replaced at some point by a flimsy wrought iron one. We have now bought a heavy reclaimed Georgian/early Victorian cast iron gate to replace it. The job would be to remove the wrought iron gate (and its two small metal posts) and replace it with an original reclaimed gate. This could either be done by fixing a spigot in the ground or custom or making fixings to be attached to the brick pier. The original stop is also still on one of the two brick piers, if possible this would be removed and used for the reclaimed gate. The door handle mechanism could also do with refurbishing if possible.
