Exterior doors and windows painting in Central
"I have given this member a very poor rating because he walked out when the job was unfinished saying that I was very unpleasant to work with and nobody should tell him how to do his job! I should explain that we left him to do the "top quality job" that he quoted for but were becoming increasingly concerned about the quality of his work - lack of preparation - untidyness - poor painting. The final straw came when he brought in a young, inexperienced kid to paint. We had to speak to him and voice our concerns. He did not bring the kid back. But our trust was lost and we found ourselves checking on the work that had been done. When the member walked out, we had the work to date inspected by a highly experienced trade professional who said the standard of work was very average and whose opinion was consistent with ours. On taking legal advice we were informed that the member was in breach of contract but we had to give him the chance to come back. He came back to finish the job some weeks later and we agreed with him that we would leave him to finish without any comment from us and then produce a snagging list at the end. This we did. He addressed some of the issues on our list but chose to ignore others. We still have black runs of paint onto white, new filler falling out, new doors not painted on the underside etc. etc. We have paid him the balance owing but made it quite clear in a letter that we were not happy with the quality of his work and did not get value for money but we just wanted rid of him. We have had very happy relationships with tradespeople over the years and indeed use a regular decorator for our interior work - unfortunately the external job was too much for him alone so we had to look elsewhere and had this very unpleasant experience - he was the most difficult tradesperson was have ever had the misfortune to work with."
