I need to re-paint a hallway, stairway wall, upstairs landing and a re-plastered upstairs landing ceiling. It is not a very big job that could be done in one day, so I am looking for a reasonable quote.
John responded within an hour of posting the job and came to give an estimate the very next day (even though it was a Sunday). He gave a very reasonable estimate and completed the job to a very high standard. He clearly takes a lot of pride in his work and was extremenly friendly and courteous the whole time. I highly recommend him and I look forward to inviting him back for more work.

DMDecor were local, polite and apparently conisderate, reliable, well qualified and high quality. Unfortunately the only two things they are is local and polite. DMDecor did not have their own vehicle so I had to help them get materials and they did not take away their rubbish when they left. The work I needed done can be split into 4 areas so I'll describe each one separately. 1. Paint the outside of the house. Generally this was done very well with the exception that after only one year the concrete window cills are cracked/blown and paint is chipping off. The walls however are generally still very good. 2. Lay two paths either side of the driveway and cover the driveway with gravel. The specific requirement was that the gravel should not move around too much and cars should be able to mount the paths without damaging them (I have to reverse out onto a main road). The paths were cracked within 5 months. The gravel has weeds coming through it despite weed suppressing blanket being used. I am in the process of looking for another builder to redo the paths and driveway. 3. Replace any worn out guttering around the house. DMDecor for some reason unknown to me refused to buy new pipes and insisted on making do with off-cuts and old pipes/joints. The result was leaks all around the house. When they did fit new pipes, as at the back of the house, they used the wrong size joints which meant the pipes were only held together by good luck and prevailing winds. They did not mention any of this. I don't have confidence in any of their pipework. 4. Add a trellis to the top of the fence at the back of the garden (to raise the height of the fence). Instead of buying trellis the right size, they tried to 'join' smaller pieces together and balance them on top of the existing fence. It looked awful and was not fit for purpose. I eventually ended up connecting the trellis pieces properly myself and securing them to the posts. There were other smaller jobs that are too small or painful to describe. In summary: these jobs should have taken a maximum of 3 weeks but actually took over 4 months! There were days when they would only turn up for 20 minutes - 10 minutes explaining why things were not done or what they were about to do and less than 10 minutes actually doing something. That doesn't include 10 minutes spent calling to say they were on their way. A call such as "I'll be there in 5 minutes" followed by no one showing up at all was routine. I cannot recommend DMDecor and I will never use them again.

Roy gave us a very reasonable quote for decorating a large hall. I think he found the wallpaper hard to work with at times but he perservered with the job. We are very pleased with the finished product and have already recommended him to our family to use in the very near future.
