"The contractor abandonned the job without finishing and did not answer my phone calls or respond to the several messages I left. The house was left in a real mess, not one room was finished and every wall was patchy with different colours of paint used. I had expected Dulux Trade paints to be used but the paint tins left at the house were cheap value ranges. Rubbish was left everywhere and butt ends were left in the sinks. We ended up having to replace the laminate in the living room as it was so badly covered in paint and contract cleaners were unable to clean the paint off. In the bathroom the tiles were covered in paint about two inches down from the ceiling. Light fittings and curtain rails were covered in paint and a blind was ripped off leaving just the roller. One of the curtain rails was actually broken and thrown in the rubbish. The decorator was told that the carpets were to be removed but the laminate was to remain. The skirting boards were painted to the level of the carpets rather than cutting the carpets away. A rug was also ruined with paint. I ended up having to find another decorator to finish the work. This cost me several weeks when I could not rent the property and of course I had to pay for professional cleaners and to replace the laminate - all unexpected costs. I just wish the decorator had let me know what was going on instead of saying everything was fine, then avoiding my calls. "
