Reviews of Plasterers & Renderers in Westfield, York
7 October 2013
Services required: plaster skimming Part of room(s): 1 x small area A small area of wall (about 3ft x 5ft at most) around a new extractor fan and hood (chimney style) above cooker. Needs to be plastered to allow painting. Probably suitable for doing on the way back from another job with the plaster already mixed Style of property: Suburban
Arrived promptly and did the job well.
Made more effort to be tidy than other plasters I have used in the past.
Updated : Smallish understairs cupboard in kitchen, artexed about 15 years with Polycell artex needs to be steamed off or skimmed to remove roughness. Original : Understairs cupboard in kitchen. I artexed this about 15 years with Polycell and we would like it removing due to continually catching our skin on it.
Previous plastering/rendering jobs in Westfield, York
Services required: prepare walls for painting / wallpaper, Current plaster finish is uneven with lots of holes anda few cracks. The property requires a plaster finish that will be even for painting. It will not be covered with wallpaper. I have not yet moved into the property. I have lots of work that needs to be done and have to date obtained 3 quotes for the entire work. This has taken some time and I am now hoping to find someone who can start on the work ASAP, as I am in temporary accommodation with all my personal effects in storage, which is not ideal.
Unfortunately, I am not happy with any of the quotes to date, as I feel that each tradesman is unable to confidently cover the scope of the works. Probably an error in judgement of the work on my part.
I am therefore now trying to tackle each job separately and am posting the plastering on here first.
If anyone would be interested in taking on other aspects of the job, which in addition to the plastering, briefly comprises: fitting new kitchen; fitting two new internal doors; replacing skirting; making good some dodgy DIY electrics; fitting smoke and wireless burglar alarm; decorating; removal of garage and its asbestos roof, please feel free to contact me re this too. Thanks!
Please Note: The budget I have provided is for the plastering works only. Style of property: Modern

Plaster four walls in a bed room
3 jobs, 1 definite, 2 others possible later.
1st job - definite:
Ceiling of a single bedroom (pehaps 10x5ft) needs doing (skimming?) as there is a large crack in it.
2nd and 3rd jobs - possible.
Depending on the state of the walls, this room and one other single room may need the walls plastering later on prior to decorating.
The one that needs the ceiling doing has a built-in wardrobe taking up virtually all of one long wall and the window takes up almost all of one of the short walls, so really little more than 2 walls may need plastering on that one. The other room (perhaps 8x8ft) would be all 4 walls.
Depending on my work,I may around 18-25 October. Otherwise I will be working away and a weekend would be required unless something is done about keys
Re-plaster of bathroom ceiling, which is currently artexed. I'd also like a quote for bedroom, living room and kitchen (also artexed)
We need some advice on repairing/replacing our bathroom ceiling. It is 210cm x 420cm and it currently has a stipple effect finish in which there are cracks appearing. We would like advice on how best to repair/replace this and a quote for completing the repairs. We would also like a quote for some patching on the bathroom walls, one section above the bath (85cm x 170cm) needs plastering from the brickwork to a standard we can tile on to and another section needs skimming to cover an old damp patch (60cm x 120cm). There is also a partition wall (45cm x 230cm) which needs skimming.
We're looking for advice and quotes and would like to complete the work before Christmas if possible. The budget we've listed is flexible.
