"The property was let out so I couldn't touch it (I don't have Part P and would have had to get a "qualified" person in to do it even though I have an electronics degree and have worked on projects for the MOD and stealth bomber). I phoned a number of people before I found someone who said they had the required paperwork. This guy: Did a worse job than I would have, took weeks to do it and came in way over budget. Claimed to have Part P then told me "his mate" would be checking the electrics. Phoned me to report pipework routing problems which I resolved in 5 seconds flat. Retiled the wall badly - some was replaced with a bit of glossed wood. About the only good thing was that after submitting a bill for £800 odd (I supplied the brand new shower unit!) he allowed my (extremely upset) g/f to pay in installments. In case the stars don't work (as reported elsewhere) I've ranked this job mediocre quality and very poor value/reliability. I'd have been embarrassed doing this job for free let alone charging for it and the bill was way OTT. "
