Darren was very helpful and carried out the job with as little fuss as possible. The work done appears to be of a high standard although I feel I paid quite a high price. I'm sure it will prove money well spent.John
This is a small job. I have a two-storey terraced Victorian house in Montpelier with a clay tile (double Roman?) roof. I recently had the gutters cleaned and the gent found a roof tile in the gutter. I'd like the tile replaced and any other minor repairs seen to. The whole roof will need replacing *eventually* but I'm about to have a baby and will not be doing that now. I just need the urgent repairs dealt with.
We have a valley roof which is leaking. Leadwork needs replacing and roof re-done.
This is an impressive contractor. Our house needed a complete re-roof and it was done in a week. Steve is particularly good at communicating with his customers. Everything happens when he says it will happen. He is friendly but professional and clearly takes a pride in his team's excellent work. Above all he has consideration for others, making sure that other homeowners know what is going on around the job. House owners dream of that kind of considerate behaviour. Well done SH Roofing.Nicki
We have water ingress into the building in two places. We would like a professional opinion on what needs doing to the roof, and proceed from there. We had scaffolding up as we were doing repairs to the upstairs windows. We have had the scaffolders extend it up to the roof, so it will be possible to take a detailed look at the problems.
Dene was great to work with. He was on site when he said he would be there, and he was always really helpful and obliging. We ended up having a completely new roof when we realized how bad things had become up there. They worked under difficult conditions as they had to come over the back wall to work on the rear roof with all their tools and buckets of mortar, and they didn't complain.I would definitely recommend Dene and his team. Really happy customer.Nicki
I need the the linings to be sorted and ceiling damage in the bathroom repaired
1st 4 Roofing provided an very good service - the nature of the job expanded owing to the discovery that the previous roofing job was a botched. They installed a velux window, lead centre valley and rebuilt the roof with new tiles and repointed the parapets. It was to a high standard and I was always consulted regarding any additional worktamer
I am the landlord of a student house and I am told my one of the students that the roof is leaking into the top bathroom. A leak in the roof was fixed earlier this year but it seems there is still a problem. There is a small skylight in the bathroom but the water is coming in through cracks in the ceiling.
Timely response and checked the problem had been fixed after rainfall. Would recommend again.Kate
Maintainance work needed for hipped roof on victorian semi-detatched house with four chimney stacks.
Scaffolding likely to be required.
Problems:
1) Roof leak around outside, rear chimney stack. Could be slipped tile just above chimney, flashing or rendering. Advice needed. Chimney pots need capping.
2) Mortar on ridge tiles is loose. These need resetting/repointing. Loose mortar keeps falling in guttering.
3) Guttering at front of property leaks a lot. Never worked well. May need refitting/replacing. Advice needed. Eves have rotted in places due to faulty guttering.
4) Rendering on the end of the party wall at the rear of the house is falling off. Needs repair.
Steve did an excellent job overhauling my leaky roof, keeping me informed of progress every step of the way and carefully asking how I would like various aspects of the work done before proceeding. (for example, there were a number of period features I wanted to keep).
I found the total price quite reasonable considering the extent and high quality of the work.
I would strongly recommend Steve for all aspects of roofing work (tiling, chimney flashing, rendering, guttering, eves, fascia boards). He is evidently an experienced roofer who takes pride in doing the job properly. I found him communicative and friendly to deal with too.

Repointing of above roof parapet wall including coping stones - part flat part sloping roof on Georgian house. I believe that the pointing will need to be flexible to cope with cyclical movement. Will almost definately need some scaffold although roof can be accessed via skylight.
Polite, provided references, fair quote, reliable and kept me informed at all times. On top of this they were quiet, tidy and did an excellent job. Highly recommended!Zoe
I have some damp on the ceiling of my bedroom and could do with someone coming to take a look at the roof as i'm concerned there might be a leak.

Chimney stack - repoint / seal / cap.
I own a 3 storey Victorian mid-terrace house in Montpelier, Bristol.
Last year I had a top floor corner fireplace removed; but the stack remains. The stack is letting rain water in - through to the plaster in the room. The stack is currently capped with a half-pipe; but the mortar is very flaky. The job is to stop the water penetration by sealing the stack properly. ALSO at the same time: - the nearly flashing and roof integrity should be checked - the cracked render along a parapet wall that adjoins the stack on the roof can be repaired. The stack is at the rear of the house.
Access will most likely require a high tower. Access to roof can be obtained from inside the house through a small inspection hatch in a shower room in good weather.

The roof terrace is just under 11 square metres, it is an outdoor space used as a balcony/garden. It is currently felted with tiles on top, I am open to the use of fibreglass + tiles, or spectraplan + tiles. I would need a guarantee for any work done.

Re tile roof and make good beams or joists as and where. Put in floo for chimney stack and check chimney for any repairs needed, so that wood burner can be put in at a later date. Roof leaks and would make more sense to re-do whole. Render front and side of house.
