Repair work needed: We started to get an ingress of damp down the chimney stack which has slightly damaged the interior. Looking up from within the boarded attic above we can see daylight in a few places so it appears that the lead flashing has come away from its pointing to the chimney stack. This may need re-pointing or replacing (need advice), to make watertight again. We would also like to make the chimney usable again some day and my work colleague (who used to work for building control) has advised from a picture that the mortar to the chimney stack may need re-pointing. The house was built in 1955 and is in an exposed location. note: if interested in inspecting and quoting, please call after 5.30pm as i'm currently at work. Many Thanks.
Very good communication and advice. re-sealed the lead work to our chimney and re pointed the mortar and capped the top. Thorough explanations of works required, showed before and after photos which was really useful, Flexible rescheduling due to snow! Would recommend to others and would use again in the future.
