Budget Under £250

Job I recently had a chimney breast removed from an internal wall. Since this work has been completed, every time it rains a damp patch now forms on this wall and then dries up when the rain holds off.

Comment Peter was brilliant and took his time to look into and investigate what the issue was as it was not immedicately obvious. He offered to take no payment until the a rainfull occurred to see if the problem had cleared up. It very rare that you find contracdtor like this and is genuinely interested in the customer and the issue and not just in profit. maria

Budget Under £500

Job I have had a chimney breast removed recently on the ground floor of a one storey house. It appears that whatever was used to seal the chimney externally after this work was complete was not done properly. Everytime it rains there is water which appears in the chimney in the room where the chimney breast was removed.

Comment Lawrence got in touch very quickly, vital for a roof leak, and came out to west London to assess the job. He came out and made a temp repair in the interim but it was literally over a bank holiday weekend 4 days from when the job was reported to completion. He is very prompt and polite and so far the work seems to have solved the problem which I had. I would recommend again. maria

Budget I'm not sure

Job You supply ladders and materials. The gutter looks sound but the brackets have come away from the fascia. It needs new brackets and if this is not possible then a new gutter. The run is about 3/4 metres max, straight no bends

Job External survey of house (recommended every 10 years I think: house not large: comprising ground floor and upper floor maisonettes) to check/remedy roof (slate I think), walls, guttering, chimney, etc. The external survey could be combined with window cleaning (if that is a service also provided). Ladders required. Generally, what we need is someone to assess the exterior of the house, make sure it's all in working order, give the windows/plaster a polish, etc. I have quoted 500-1000 for a day's work including any work (e.g. windows) that can be done during the day (depending on materials used). I think this is reasonable but I am happy to be advised if this is not the market price/going rate. Obviously, if the day's exterior survey brings up a major flaw that needs to be remedied that is a separate piece of work that needs to be assessed and quoted and we can go from there.

Job To remove old slate flashings from a space around 1 square metre above the front door of property and replace with lead flashings to match neighbouring property.
