10 year old roof - zinc OK - needs old cement raking out and new pointing applied
I was connected to Steve and his business by Rated People. He quickly made an appointment, duly arrived, and gave me a competitive quotation on site and confirmed it in writing giving me dates when he could start and how long it would take to complete the task. He was the only roofer to climb on to the roof and inspect the valley areas in need of repair. He gave me confidence he knew a lot about roofing describing the work needed and his experience as a quality tradesman. Again arrived on time to do the job, operated truthfully, diligently, in good humour, as a team, and at pace. I was impressed by their professionalism; their work looks excellent, good value and carries their guarantee. It was a pleasure to do business with them and I shall recommend them to my friends.

The hip tiles are fragmenting. The broken tiles resulted from chimney work.
Jay's price was competitive. However, with several valid reasons he postponed the job 3 or 4 times. The job was eventually done well, but the mess on my lawn was not - I had to clear up a circle of cement and a lot of tile chippings and lumps of cement removed from the roof.

Our GBP40,000 + roof replacement was to have been completed a year ago (October 2009). 90% of the job was completed to our satisfaction nearly on time. The faults (rattling slate tiles on all 6 dormer cheeks) that became evident a year ago were highlighted on numerous occasions, but so far have not been fixed. In July 2010, we sent the builder a third party roof survey with photos and videos confirming the previously mentioned faults as well as several other faulty workmanship items (cracked and slipped tiles, incorrect lead work). I have asked the builder close to 10 times to address the outstanding issues and have last heard from him in September 2010. Until these problems are addressed, I cannot recommend this company.

A short secion of cast iron downpipe, for discharging water from a shower/bath, is too short and discharges water above the grill such that it splashes around the side. The pipe section near ground level needs replacing with a longer section, and the sand/cement fillet around the eadge of the drain grill needs redoing as well. This is a small job and I have a numbr of other similar small jobs also waiting to be done.

Typical terraced london house. Ladders definietly required. Possibly scaffolding.
David attended very quickly (within a few days) and undertook the required work on the same day. It remains to be seen whether the house is now watertight but I had confidence that he knew what he was doing.

We have a flat roof to the rear of the house with a 'apron' construction, so clay tiles on the lower part and flat on the top, which is painted with solar paint. There are a number of cracks in the solar paint and as a result (I think) we have a leak into the kitchen wall below at high level, but on the wall not ceiling. We do not want to undertake a resurfacing of the roof as a whole as that part of the house is likely to be demolished and rebuilt within 12 months as part of a larger job, So we just want a good repair undertaken.
