We have problems with damp walls on our ground floor flat extension causing the plaster on the inside to swell and crack and paint to peel off. The problem started with a small patch about 1m above floor level and has then spread out and also started in other places, which makes us think it isn't rising damp. The damp area now covers about 2 square meters in total.
Grant was keen to quote and friendly to deal with. I felt he gave sensible advice. His work is neat and he left the work area in a tidy state. Highly recommended.

Need someone to look at damp problem extending in a basement loo.
Very helpful kind man who did his utmost to sort out the problem. I think he is extremely thorough and professional and he came back several times to make sure the problem was dealt with effectively.

Dry rot discovered on windows in 2 rooms. In bedroom, one wall approx 2m long infected. need to remove all infected woodwork - skirting and floorboards and potentially joists. Walls need treating. French windows - potentially salvageable. In kitchen, worktops need removal to access area. walls need treating. floorboards need replacing. Also 2 other windows in another room that need replacing.
Brian did an excellent job on the dry rot and damp in my flat. The problem turned out to be far more extensive than we originally thought, but the bill was not incresed by more than his original top budget. Having had 2 quotes come in at more than 3 times what Brian undertook the work for, I am extremely pleased and the price was extremely reasonable and fair. He is honest and professional, and did the necessary work and not ridiculous OTT treatment which is what a lot of other damp companies seem to do which is wasteful and needlessly expensive. He is an expert in damp treatment and gave me very good advice about how to cure it which is invaluable. I would thoroughly recomend this builder to anyone.

We have a flat roof on our flat - on the top floor of a three storey terrace. The roof is approximately 5m x 7m and is accessible from an enclosed balcony on the top floor (so no scaffolding should be required - although care will be needed in bringing building materials through our flat). The roof has two parapet walls running down either side (the 7m sides). The flashing at either side of the roof only rises about 50mm above the level of the roof and the parapet walls are only 30mmm or so taller than the flashing - a real cowboy job. I doubt there is any cavity tray in the walls and there may even be no damp course below the concrete coping stones. The result is that water has seeped through the wall and has caused some (minor at this stage) damage at the top of the internal wall below. We need the situation resolved. We are open to suggestions, although suspect the answer may be to re-do the parapet walls and flashing along both sides of the roof. The interior damage also needs repairing. This work must all be completed by the end of March.

I have a gravel driveway with netting underneath it to hold the gravel in place. I would like to get the end of the driveway cobble stoned as I find that when anyone drives out of the driveway they wheel spin on the gravel and it would be safer to have the end of the driveway cobble stoned. The area is on average 24ft wide and 18ft from the end of the driveway to where I would like the cobble stonework to end. So the job would involve ripping up the white matting and concreting in a traditional square cobbles instead. Can you give me 2 quotes please....one using solid granite cobbles and one using Tumbled Granite cobbles on easy lay netting which would be the much cheaper option. Many thanks. Timing: I am flexible on start date

Updated : We have damp problems in the main bedroom of our ground floor flat. The room is part of a single story extension and has 2 external walls. It is single glazed so it does get cold. The main area for the damp is on one wall and it started after a picture frame was leaned up next to it. There are dark mould spores on the wall, near the bottom where a painting was leant up. In the corner, where there is a small gap between a built in cupboard and the wall there are also some spores and the wall is slightly damp to the touch. At the moment we think the problem is mostly condensation from generally living there, drying hair (which mainly takes place in the area where the mould is), as well as drying washing inside. Our best option might be insulating plaster board but we want to rule out other causes of damp before going down this route.
