I have a sandstone rustic style fireplace that has been fitted in my Victorian living room. I would like this taken out and replaced with a cast iron surround and tiled insert. The surround that will be going in is slightly smaller than the existing stone surround. So this will need to be taken back and plastered in places. As the sandstone has been built up both as a surround and as a hearth this will need removed back to the original sandstone of the walls and to floor or original hearth level. The lintel will need checked once it is uncovered. I would like to be able to use the fire for wood when finished. I will provide the surround and insert and the chimney is lined and has been swept.
Hugh came round very promptly to quote for the work and was knowledgeable and approachable. He was happy to arrange the job for a weekend to fit in with my work. I found the price to be very good. Hugh turned up when agreed and made a good job of clearing the old sandstone fireplace back to the original. He and his assistant cleared away the rubble and tidied up. they also removed 2 radiators for me. I was pleased with the job and will ask Hugh to quote for future work.
