Reviews of Stoneworkers & Stonemasons in Stroud, Gloucestershire

Cainscross, GL5

Under £4,000
I need six or seven stone quoins replaced in the corner of my house using lime mortar. They have started to break up. At the same time I need an old creeping plant removed from the side of my house and potentially some pointing depending on the state of the wall under the creeper.
Louis did a really excellent job and I would definitely use Pretsige brickwork again or recommend them to others.

Under £8,000
Old retaining wall (stone one side/brick the other), 8m section bulging and leaning, needs rebuilding. Please email. Very unsure of budget.
Gareth did a great job rebuilding our 3m high, listed wall and relaying original york stone flags in our courtyard. Neither project was straight forward as he had to work with lime mortars and use the existing stone and bricks. I was very pleased with the thoughtful way he approached the tasks. I will have no hesitation in using him for other projects.

Interior cotswold stone steps, ground to first floor spiral staircase. No ladders/scaffolding required. Stonemason required.
Ian was a most excellent Stonemason, and I would strongly recommend him for any stonework/limework. He did SO MUCH MORE than we originally requested, and so much better than we even imagined it could be, such that he has made a beautiful job of our cotswold cottage; has to be seen to be believed. Stonemasonry, lime plastering, odd jobs (smile). Always there when he said (working for us for several months!), always helpful and friendly, and a pleasure to have around. He will be welcome back on any future jobs we have, and we have passed on many personal recommendations already, as have our other tradespersons.

1 fireplace we want to convert back to an open fireplace and another we want to open up to allow us to install a wood burner
Job well done and willing to advise and share knowledge. Will probably use again.

Rebuilding of approx 1m x 3m section of dry stone wall using existing stone.
Gareth did a great job for us at a very reasonable price even though the job actually took more work than originally estimated. Gareth was punctual, helpful and the work site was left looking nice and tidy. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Gareth to anyone - a lovely job and a nice person too!

I need an expert stonemason capable of cutting and scarfing in a new piece of stone to replace a section of old Cotswold stone that has cracked off a window mullion. Preferably using Cotswold stone, although Bath stone might do, if reasonable colour match. There is more work at my house if job well done.j
