We have had an offer accepted on a Grade II listed Thatched Cottage in Huncote, Leicestershire, dating back to around 1777. Our building survey has identified some structural issues and has suggested strapping the building, the insertion of helibars and a damp proof course. We have agreed with the vendor that if we can get quotes for this work, we can renegotiate on the price. The vendor is available from Monday 5 March to meet contractors to quote for the work. If we are successful in buying the building we would like to restore the 3 fireplaces, put a kitchen in one of the reception rooms, replace a 1970s lean to with a utility room, modernise the bathroom and possibly look at moving the bathroom wall to make the 3rd bedroom larger. In addition, we would like to have the garage removed as it has an asbestos roof, and replaced with a new double garage. We would like to invite builders to quote for the initial structural work, plus the additional renovations.
