Updated : We will supply the log burner and slate harth - may need assistance sourcing timber mantle as we are looking for an old sleeper or similar cut of wood. Victorian effect gas fire and surround fitted 2004. Stone mantle surround "stuck" to wall. Interior is metal - took less than a day to fit (exc. gas fire). Actual gas fire removed number of years ago and replaced with grate for open fire use. Original : We are looking to have alog burner fitted. The job includes the removal of fire surround, making good inside of flireplace and surrounding wall. Fitting slate harth, log burner and timber mantle (recalimed oak or sleeper chased into wall). Cleaning chimney and lining.
We are currenlty in talks with Mal Jones concerning the removal of our installation as we have since found out it is illegal (as advised by an independant HETAS appv'd installer). Our patience is now wearing thin due to the delays we are experiancing in getting a satisfactory resolution to this issue and are considering taking legal action. We have given only one star as although we'd like to think Mal did not set out to do a bad job, we have paid £3,000+ for something that is not "not fit for purpose"Caroline
