Job Internal window will require ladder to fix as decorator painted case and window won't shut properly. easy job, but I have no ladders.

Budget Under £250

Job I need to replace a pane of glass in a sash window approx size is 60x40. I also have another sash window (double width) that needs to have a replacement pane. Would be great if could get both jobs done at same time.

Budget I'm not sure

Job We have 3 old velux windows we would like to repair (sized approximately 50x70 cms, 50x70 cms, 40x60 cms). There is condensation and so I assume the seal on the double glazing has gone and so the glazing needs replacing. In addition, they do not currently open and close very easily and so if this can be improved that would be great. I would also check that the seals on the flashings are still ok, and replace if necessary.

Comment Russell did a great job at sorting out our velux windows. Russell gave me a quote over the phone, ordered the replacement glass promptly and arranged to come to fix them for a few days after the glass was due to arrive. He arrived on time, did a great job (helping remove a kitchen cupboard in the way), getting the velux windows moving smoothly again as well as changing the glass and checking the flashings. He was also very polite, friendly and tidy. I would definately recommend him. Sally

Job Skylight in ground floor extension, single glazed and leaking. Would like to replace with velux or similar.

Comment Employing this individual was a huge mistake. He used an incomplete and damaged (?secondhand/?retrieved from a skip) Velux window and failed to use appropriate flashing, merely inserting jigsaw pieces of old lead flashing from around the old window. There is a whole section missing from the top of the window with exposure of the wooden framework to the elements which means that any rain pours straight through the frame into the room beneath. He also did a complete botch job on the 'making good' and despite his promises that he would be back to finish the job has since failed to answer his phone or return messages. He requested cash in hand and did not provide a receipt. I've had to call in another roofer who will be redoing the entire job from scratch. Next stop trading standards and the small claims court. I was fully prepared to pay the going rate for a decent job done. Instead I have been burned by a total cowboy. I hope others don't make the same mistake. Josephine
