Installing a timer on a cooker

A person wants to control a power supply to a cooker so that it's designed to switch off after a certain time.

He wants to make sure that his mother is safe as she's getting a little absent-minded. Would he be able to install a timer on the cooker that would switch it off after a set time? If so, how?

Responses from some of our very best tradespeople:

"Yes. This is quite straightforward - a time clock can be fitted next to the fuse board to control the cooker. You will have to control the cooker supply via a contactor though as the time clock will not be able to handle the cookers load."

"Yes it is possible to do this, the way I would suggest is to have the cooker switched via a contactor (I suggest a 63A as we don’t know the power rating of the cooker). And the contactor controlled by a timer module, which you can programme to come on and off when you want."
