How to waterproof a wall

What you need

  • Tape measure
  • Waterproof panel
  • Fine tooth hacksaw
  • Putty knife
  • Putty
  • Sandpaper
  • Damp cloth
  • Adhesive
  • Mastic trowel
  • Laminate roller
  • Caulking gun
  • Caulk

The steps to follow

  1. Measure the wall area where you’ll install the waterproofing panels.
  2. Use a fine tooth hacksaw to cut the panels to the required size.
  3. Smooth the edges of the panels with medium grade sandpaper.
  4. Remove the tiles from the wall.
  5. Fill any holes or cracks in the wall with putty.
  6. Smooth the surface with medium grade sandpaper.
  7. Use a damp cloth to clean the surface area.
  8. Now that the area is clean and clear of debris, you can install the waterproofing panels.
  9. Use a mastic trowel to evenly spread the adhesive on the entire area of the waterproofing panels.
  10. Place the panels against the wall and press firmly.
  11. Roll a laminate roller over the area to ensure that the adhesive is evenly applied to the wall.
  12. Remove any excess adhesive from the edges with a putty knife.
  13. Apply caulk paste onto the edges of the panels. To ensure a water-tight installation, apply caulk paste around the corner where two panels butt together.
