What you need
- Tape measure
- Kitchen countertop
- Kitchen sink
- Chalk
- Drain pipes
- Extension pipes
- Pencil
- Solvent cement
- Couplings
- Screw driver
The steps to follow
- Place the kitchen countertop on the floor where you plan to install it.
- Mark out its position with a piece of chalk or tape.
- Then, mark the position of the kitchen sink drain pipe onto the floor.
- Next, draw a line perpendicular to the wall where you plan to install the kitchen cabinet. This line will help you in determining the position of the drain pipes.
- Measure the diameter of the drain pipe. With this measurement, mark the hole where the drain pipe will run through the kitchen sink and into the floor. With a saw, cut the hole on the kitchen countertop where the pipe will sit.
- Assemble the drain pipes and extension of the kitchen sink. On one side of the waste pipe link the drain pipe and on the other end, link the extension pipe. Position the remaining length of the extension pipe on the guided perpendicular line.
- You'll need to establish a route for the extension pipe. Mark the diameter of the pipe onto the floor and cut the hole with a saw. The hole should extend through to the basement or the floor underneath.
- Dry fit the pipes and pass it through from the kitchen countertop through the floor and the basement.
- Locate the waste pipe and connect the extension pipe to it.
- Connect all the ends of the pipes with solvent and fit them tightly. Tighten the pipes further by screwing coupling onto the pipes.
