How to unblock a pipe to a soakaway

What you need
- Protective gloves
- Brush
- Mild detergent
- Detergent
- Hose
- Auger wire
- Stick
- Wire
The steps to follow
- Wear your protective gloves before you start unblocking your soakaway.
- You can try to clear the debris in the pipe with a stick.
- You can also try inserting a drain auger and engage it to unblock the pipe.
- Move the auger to unblock the obstruction and clear the pipe.
- Next flush the pipe with water.
- Try scrubbing the inside of the pipe with a brush (that is long enough to reach into the pipe).
- To avoid any foul odour, disinfect it with a disinfectant.
Note:
- To avoid any further clogs in soakaway, you should try to seal up any holes on the pipe that may allow debris to enter.
- If the pipe is old and worn out, you should try to replace it with a modern plastic pipe.
- You can hire a professional high-water cleaner with a drain cleaning attachment.
