How to replace fuses
Safety always has to come first when working with electrical currents. However as long as you make sure everything is switched off at the mains you'll not have a problem with this easy DIY fix.

What you need
- Wire strippers
- Screwdriver
- Cartridge fuses
- Replacement fuse holders
- Fuse wire
The steps to follow
To replace rewirable fuse:
- Turn off the main power.
- Remove the fuse holder and replace with a new fuse holder, complete with a fuse wire.
- Undo the terminal screws and remove the remains of the burnt-out fuse wire.
- Cut a new length of fuse wire. The wire should be long enough to reach from terminal to terminal.
- Feed the wire through the body of the fuse holder, and tighten its terminal screws.
- Cut off any excess wire.
- Replace the fuse holder in the box and restore the power.
- Get all electrical works checked by a certified and qualified electrician.
To replace cartridge fuse:
- Turn off the main power.
- Remove the fuse holder.
- The fuse is usually held by small spring clips inside the fuse holder.
- Lever out the fuse with a screwdriver and replace with a new fuse of the same current rating.
- Replace the fuse holder in the fuse box and restore the power.
- Get all electrical works checked by a certified and qualified electrician.
