How to hide nasty stains on the ceiling

It's happened to the best of us, mainly in the kitchen. Exploding smoothies or cakes that won't come out the tin; most end up on the floor but there are few errant ones that actually hit the ceiling. Here's what you do to get rid of those nasty ceiling stains ... .

What you need

  • Safety goggles
  • Dust sheet
  • Ladder
  • Painter's tape
  • Scissors
  • Stain sealer
  • Roller
  • Roller pan
  • Paint

The steps to follow

  1. Move all furniture out of the room and cover the floor where you'll be working from with a dust sheet.
  2. Open some windows to allow proper ventilation.
  3. Isolate the section where you'll be working on by taping painter's tape all around that area.
  4. First, you'll need to apply the stain sealer to the stains on the ceiling.
  5. Pour a fair amount of stain sealer into a roller pan.
  6. Load the roller with stain sealer and brush it on the stained area.
  7. Let it dry before applying a second and third layer.
  8. Next, paint over the area with the same paint colour as your original ceiling colour.
  9. Let the paint dry and reapply a second coat of paint.
