Level of difficulty
Level 2: Intermediate
What you need
- Fine grade sandpaper
- Dust sheet
- Putty filler
- Damp cloth
- Masking tape
- Paintbrush
- Primer
- Paint
The steps to follow
- Remove curtain and curtain rods or blinds.
- Cover the floor where you'll be painting the window with dust sheet.
- Strip old paint from the window.
- Fill any holes with putty filler and wait until it hardens before proceeding to the next step.
- Use a fine grade sandpaper to sand the surface. Sand the surface until it's smooth.
- Clean the surface with a damp cloth to rid it of dust.
- Use masking tape to protect the edges of the glass pane.
- Now that the preparation is complete, you can start painting your window.
- For new windows, you'll need to apply a coat of primer.
- Next, paint the window with your chosen colour. Apply an even coat in the direction of the wood grain. Repeat this procedure for a second layer.
- Remove the masking tape when the paint has dried.
