How to caulk a toilet base / bowl

Make sure your toilet is leak free with this simple DIY task.

What you need

  • Sponge
  • Cleaning agent
  • Scissors
  • Damp towel
  • Caulking gun
  • Caulk

The steps to follow

  1. Clean the surface of the floor and the toilet base/bowl base with a sponge and cleaning agent.
  2. Load a tube of caulk into your caulking gun and snip off the tip of the spout with a pair of scissors. When you have finished prepping the caulking gun, it is now ready for use.
  3. Apply a medium coat of caulk all along the base of the toilet base/bowl.
  4. Rub your finger two or three times between the floor and the toilet base to trim excess caulk.
  5. Wipe off the excess caulk with a damp towel.
