Basement conversion

The permission surrounding basement conversion and development is currently under review however so in all cases you should check with your local planning authority.

Converting an old basement that doesn't significantly change its usage, have a light well added or where the conversion doesn't alter the outside appearance of the property is unlikely to need permission, whereas excavating a new basement is.
