Underpinning

Planning permission for underpinning and foundation maintenance is not normally required.

However, if you live in a listed building or designated area (which includes areas of conservation etc.), you need to check with your local planning authority. Please note that building regulations DO apply to underpinning work. Appropriate measures must be applied to ensure the underpinning stabilises the movement of the building. Also you need to consider sewers and drains nearby.
