For porches, you need to apply for planning permission in the following circumstances.

• If you want your porch to have a ground area of more than 3m²;
• If you want your porch to be higher than 3m above ground level ;
• Your planned porch would be less than 2m away from the boundary of a home with a highway (highways include public roads, footpaths, bridleways and by-ways) .
