Only genuine customers that have found their tradesman through Rated People can leave ratings, so you can be confident that they are always based on real experiences from previous customers.
How does it work?
There are four steps to finding a local tradesman:
1) Post your job - tell us what you need doing and when
2) Get quotes - we'll find you up to 3 local tradesmen to quote.
3) Check ratings - use previous customer ratings to help you decide.
4) Hire the best - have your job done and rate your tradesman
How much does it cost?
It is free to use Rated People to find a tradesman. All we ask is that you come back and rate your tradesman to help others make a smarter choice.
Tradesmen pay to be members of Rated People and also pay a small fee if they choose to quote for you.
How do I post a job?
It’s easy to post your job. Just enter a few details about the work you need done and we'll start searching for local tradespeople who want to quote for you. Post your job here
How many quotes should I get?
When you post your job we’ll find up to 3 tradesmen to quote. We always recommend that you compare at least two quotes before making a final decision.
How long does it take?
It only takes a few seconds to submit a job and activate your account. Once that’s done we aim to have connected you with relevant local tradesmen as soon as possible. This can happen in as little as a few hours but we’ll keep searching for up to 3 business days.
Why can't I just pick a tradesman from a list?
Rated People is different from traditional directory lists. We save you time and effort by finding local tradesmen that actually want your work, and then helping you to choose between them using unbiased ratings from previous customers.
How will I know when a tradesman wants to quote?
As soon as we've found a local tradesman that wants to quote for you, we'll email and text you to let you know. We'll give you their contact details and a link to see previous customer ratings for their work. The tradesman will then call you as soon as they can to arrange a quote.
Which browsers do you support?
Our service is tested and supported on Internet Explorer version 8, Internet Explorer version 7 and Firefox version 3.
Other browsers and platforms including Safari, Internet Explorer version 6 and Chrome are not supported. Even though the service may work well on these browsers, you may also experience some technical issues when using them.

How do I pick the best tradesman?
Each time we connect you with a local tradesman we’ll share any ratings or comments they have from previous customers to help your decision. We always recommend that you compare at least two quotes before making a final decision.
Sometimes when we connect you with tradesmen that are new to Rated People, there aren’t any previous customer ratings to look at. When this happens we recommend that you ask to speak to some previous customers directly.
How do I leave a rating for my tradesman?
What makes a good rating?
You can rate your tradesperson on their Quality of Work, Value for money and Reliability. A good rating is a fair and balanced view of what you thought of their work.
Any feedback you leave should be impersonal and state the facts.

Why should I leave a rating?
We think every customer should leave a rating and a comment as this helps other home improvers to make informed decisions and the best tradespeople to build strong reputations.
The fact that a tradesperson knows their customer will leave a rating also motivates them to do a good job right to the end.
When should I leave a rating?
We think the best time to leave your rating and feedback is once the job is completed. However ratings can be updated by customers at any point, and tradespeople can comment openly on the ratings and comments given if they wish.
What if I change my mind?
If you change your mind about finding a tradesman, just let us know as soon as you possibly can by withdrawing your job, and we’ll stop the search.

What if should I do if I have enough quotes?
As soon as you have enough quotes or have made a decision login and let us know so that we can stop contacting tradesmen on your behalf.

Why have I been asked to update a job?
Sometimes we ask you to update your job with extra information if the search is taking longer than usual. This is simply to help boost interest in your job and speed up the process.

How can I get or stop text alerts?
If you give us your mobile number when you submit your job, we'll automatically send you text alerts when we find tradesmen for you.
