Act on CO2: You've got the whole world in your hands

03/04/09
Act on CO2 has claimed that people have the power to save energy.

Over the past three months, the Act on CO2 People Power challenge has been busy showing families across the UK how to save energy and money by being greener.

As part of a UK-wide project taking in 30 people over 30 cities, it followed ten members of the public in the north-east on their quest to reduce the amount of energy they consume in their everyday lives.

This was achieved by such things as having thermostatic radiator valves and boiler-heated power shower installed, the Journal reported.

One participant told the newspaper: "The house is now only heated in parts that we actually use and turning lights off has become an obsessive competition between my wife and me."

By insulating their homes properly, using low-energy light bulbs and turning off appliances when they are not in use, the organisation claims homeowners could save £300 a year on their energy bills.
