Always use registered tradesmen, home owners warned

Home owners who may be hiring carpenters and
plasterers in Brighton have been reminded of why it is always important to use professionals.
Blane Judd, chief executive at the Chartered Institute of
Plumbing and Heating Engineering, claimed many tradesmen working in this industry could fail to declare their earnings and take cash in hand.
However, he does not believe any
builders registered with a professional body would engage in this kind of practice.
"All professionally qualified
plumbing and heating engineers would do their tax affairs as they should do anyway," Mr. Judd continued.
He added that experts registered with his organisation abide by a code of professional standards and although the body does not involve itself with their activities, members are expected to comply with all regulations.
On March 1st, HM Revenue and Customs announced that gas fitters,
plumbers and heating engineers are being targeted by tax authorities in a bid to prevent tradesmen from failing to declare their earnings.
