Consumers have been warned about hidden levies that may be attached to household bills in order to help Britain meet the cost of climate change.
While
energy efficiency and
home improvements to make greener changes to
residential property are important to many consumers, balancing this with affordable tariffs is equally crucial.
However, uSwitch.com claims that already, £84 per year is being added to power bills to help pay for climate change-combating measures - a figure that could double in the next ten years.
"If the levies are applied proportionately they will act as an incentive for households to cut their energy consumption. If not, then the industry will be sending out a very mixed message to consumers," said uSwitch.com director of consumer policy Ann Robinson.
Any consumer looking for a more competitive energy deal is always advised to compare providers and find the most suitable deal. New home owners may find
energy efficiency features built into their property can help to lower prices.
