Energy efficiency is not a priority for many home owners, despite the majority of Brits being better informed of the benefits of sustainable living.
This is according to a new survey by advice website Thinkinsulation, which revealed 44 per cent of people have not made any heating materials
home improvements in the last three years.
While just three per cent of individuals saw no benefits to green renovations, the general public is still underachieving in this area, the organisation claimed.
More than 80 per cent of those with a property have not installed cavity wall insulation and 98 per cent of people who live in older residences have not addressed uninsulated solid walls, the statistics showed.
Lydia Sharples at Thinkinsulation said it is surprising that green and sustainable
home improvements are currently at their cheapest level and yet most individuals are not taking advantage.
Secretary of state for energy and climate change Chris Huhne recently said the government's nationwide Green Deal scheme, which is to see domiciles retrofitted with energy-efficient modifications, will "revolutionise" the climate change industry.
