The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) is to hold a one-day course offering owners of terraced housing expert advice and guidance on looking after this type of residential property.

Originally run in January 2009, the SPAB Terrace House course is returning in 2010 "by popular demand", the organisation said.

The event, which will be held on 23rd January at Tyntesfield House, near Bristol in Somerset, will be led by the SPAB's roving education officer Marianne Suhr, who was one of the ruin detectives on the BBC's Restoration series.

Builders with first-hand experience of working on Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian terraced houses will be on hand to offer expert advice on the key issues affecting the properties, from damp and brickwork to roofing, energy efficiency and plasterwork.

People attending the seminar will also get a chance to take part in question and answer sessions with local tradesmen.

Founded in 1877 by William Morris, the SPAB is the UK's largest lobby group dedicated to the protection of older buildings.
