Going once, going twice, going green

22/05/09
A renovation project in Northumberland has been made available and could be perfect for those who want a green house challenge.

Blackchesters Farm is described as a "hidden gem" by letting agent George F. White.

The three-bedroom house has no modern comforts or luxuries and electricity can only be sourced from a generator.

The closest neighbour is a mile away but there are stunningly beautiful views of the countryside and the space to fit green homebuilding additions such as wind turbines or solar panels.

According to George F. White, the property is in need of serious renovation and so people interested in renting it may be able to negotiate on price depending how much work they plan to undertake.

"Blackchesters is ideal for a couple or a family who want a fresh start or an alternative lifestyle," said Annabel Hunter, a spokesperson for the letting agent.

"There is an opportunity for someone to firmly put their stamp on their own little corner of God's Own Country".

Renovation may be an exciting prospect for some, but others who would rather leave it to the professionals should ensure they employ a registered tradesperson to do the job.
