Green
home improvements are set to "revolutionise" climate change in the UK, the Liberal Democrats have suggested.
Chris Huhne, secretary of state for energy and climate change, told the party at its annual conference in Liverpool yesterday (21st September) the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition government's Green Deal policy is to "radically overhaul" the
energy efficiency of small businesses and homes in the UK.
He explained: "The Green Deal will be a revolution ... A once-and-for-all refit that will make every home in Britain ready for a low-carbon future."
Mr. Huhne added the new policy could also help to create a whole new industry in order to counteract the "budget squeeze", with more work for the 26,000
rated tradesmen currently working in insulation now.
According to the Energy Saving Trust, every household in the UK creates around five and a half tonnes of carbon dioxide every year, spending around £23 per week on fuel and power.
