Home improvements firm launches windows scrappage scheme

A UK home improvements firm has introduced a National Window Scrappage Scheme to encourage residential property owners to improve energy efficiency by changing poorly insulated windows for new ones.

Under the scheme, Anglian Home Improvements will offer home owners £2,000 towards the cost of having energy-saving windows professionally installed by its fitters.

The company said the move is designed to support the Glass and Glazing Federation's e-petition for the government to introduce a £1,000 windows scrappage scheme. As of October 23rd, the petition on the Downing Street website has attracted 1,239 signatures.

Anglian also said its scheme would help towards meeting the government's aim of reducing CO2 emissions by cutting carbon output while also helping to cut household energy bills.

The firm's head of marketing and communications Melanie Russell said: "Anglian's windows scrappage scheme, which replaces inadequate insulated windows with new energy efficient ones, means this winter UK households can retain more heat while actually spending less heating their homes."

Anglian Home Improvements was established in 1966.
