If people in the UK are to make green
home improvements, they require simple information to guide them in the right direction, it has been suggested.
Dick Strawbridge, presenter of It's Not Easy Being Green, said that once home owners understand the concept and are able to monitor their energy use, they will not go back to their old ways.
However, because people lead such busy lives, it makes it tricky for them to implement the changes, Mary Turner, chief executive of AlertMe, added.
Mr. Strawbridge said: "Saving energy is all about learning and having somebody guiding you through the minefield - because we don't all understand how to save energy."
This leadership, he continued, should partly be the responsibility of utilities companies.
These comments come after Marketiers revealed that 48 per cent of consumers do not think gas and electricity providers do enough to help them reduce their carbon footprints.
Similarly, only 36 per cent were aware of the green schemes being put into operation by some power companies.
