Edited by Andy Jowett.

The co-host of Channel 4's Location, Location, Location Phil Spencer has urged the public to make their nominations for the Master Builder of the Year Awards before the deadline for entries passes later today (August 31st).

Every entrant for the competition must be put forward by a satisfied customer.

The competition, which is open to all builders and tradesmen, covers categories such as new homes, small, medium and large renovation schemes, energy efficiency and commercial projects worth up to £3 million.

In addition, there is a Heavenly Builder prize for contractors who display exceptional levels of customer service regardless of the size of the job.

Spencer said he hopes the competition will "help inspire tradesmen, as well as the public, to build a better Britain".

Entries for the contest can be made online at the website of the Federation of Master Builders.

The winners will be announced on March 11th 2011. They will receive a Nissan commercial vehicle worth up to £20,000, while the customer who nominated them will get a £3,000 holiday.

Award sponsors include the National House-Building Council, the Energy Saving Trust and ConstructionSkills.
