Plumbers top small business customer satisfaction poll

Plumbers have been named Britain's favourite type of small business in a new survey of 25,000 consumers carried out by the Institute of Customer Service.
The study, reported by Heating and Ventilating, gave
plumbers a customer satisfaction score of 87.2%, ahead of hairdressers on 86.1% and travel agents on 84.1%.
Respondents rated utilities as the worst performing sector for customer satisfaction, giving it an overall score of 66.1%. Public services achieved a score of 70%, while telecoms received a rating of 70.1%.
Consumers were asked to rate companies on factors including their professionalism, the quality and efficiency of their work, the ease of doing business and the effectiveness of their problem solving.
Institute of Customer Service chief executive Jo Causon said: "It is those who take customer service seriously that are reaping the rewards and will continue to do so beyond the current economic gloom."
