The Federation of Master
Builders (FMB) is calling on the government to stick by a pledge to introduce the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) in April 2011.
Earlier this week, the trade association was joined outside parliament by government and opposition MPs including shadow energy and climate change secretary Meg Hillier and environmental campaigner Zac Goldsmith to pressure ministers to stand by the programme.
The previous government designed the RHI to provide financial support to
residential property owners and businesses installing technologies such as biomass boilers, air and ground source heat pumps and renewable combined heat and power systems.
However, the FMB said there are concerns the scheme could be "delayed or watered down" when the coalition announces its comprehensive spending review on 20th October.
The organisation's director of external affairs Brian Berry said: "We are calling on the government to honour its pledge to introduce a Renewable Heat Incentive that will create jobs and save people money on fuel bills."
