Owners of
residential property in Scotland are set to benefit from a new series of
energy efficiency measures.
A pilot scheme is expected to be launched by the country's government that will see home owners offered loans for insulation, among other environmentally-friendly products and services.
Finance secretary John Swinney said that the initiative will help people cut their energy costs as well as their carbon footprint.
He said: "Advice on how to take simple steps to be more energy efficient - and a loan to make it more manageable - will help thousands of people cut their fuel bills and play their part in reducing emissions."
Furthermore, Mr. Swinney said provision for green technology will provide thousands of jobs and pave the way for a low carbon economy.
Scotland has committed to reducing its carbon emissions by 42 per cent by 2020.
As part of the Climate Change Delivery Plan, the country hopes to have almost carbon-free heating for buildings by 2050.
