Solar panel specialist HomeSun is looking to give away £1 billion worth of green
home improvements.
Over the next three years, the company aims to install photovoltaic systems on 100,000 homes.
This equipment would normally cost between £10,000 and £15,000, but HomeSun will provide the panels for free.
Home owners will benefit from their energy bills being cut by up to a third, while the company will collect the government's Feed-in Tariffs (FITs) for the panels.
Under the FIT scheme, households receive regular payments for generating electricity from renewable or low power sources, even if they use it themselves.
HomeSun chief executive Daniel Green said he hopes the initiative will appeal to
residential property owners.
"There is nothing to pay and everything to gain and you start making money through the savings immediately," he added.
FITs were introduced in Britain on April 1st 2010.
